Busy Week for our P7 pupils
On Monday 10th December the P7 pupils were literally building bridges. They worked in groups of two or three to design a bridge. These bridges were made using only paper based items. Once completed the bridges were tested by adding weights. Five of the thirteen bridges were able to hold 20kg. We further tested these five bridges and two of them held pupils and also some members of staff. What an achievement!!! The children really enjoyed this activity and perhaps we have met our engineers of the future.
SMOKING AWARENESS
On Wednesday 12th December Amy and Jessica from NI Chest, Heart and Stroke, visited the P7 class to discuss the dangers of smoking. The children were given electronic monitors to complete an interactive quiz. Amy and Jessica showed us some of the chemicals found in cigarettes, a set of teeth that had been eroded due to smoking and the impact of smoking on an adult’s lungs. One pupil also got to see how her facial features would change if she started smoking. The pupils really enjoyed the visit and certainly gained a lot of knowledge about the dangers of smoking.
